I am glad there are those who take to the material witih appreciation. As it is, the concept deviates quite widely from it's canonical base, but as a project in and of itself, hopefully it will have it's redeeming factors. I make no assumptions in how others will view my work - they enjoy as they see fit (and as you have); all I can do as the source of the sketches is to place what thought and care into them as best as I can manage.
Again, much thanks, Mitsuka. I wish you luck and ease with your own efforts.
Gotta wonder what's going through his mind as he pours over the history of this new (old?) world and how it was forged... I get the strange feeling his judgements about it will probably be just as dim as his own judgements of his species.
So, the history of Julian Robotnik... A facet of him I hesitate to place to paper. What is there in that constituent of his influence and time which one would best mention?
Indeed, it is strange to consider him donning such clothing. I was initially amused at the thought myself, but there is plenty of practicality to the action. In my view, Mobotropolis is a city of great progress and formal hospitality - and although there is reason for the King of Acorn to be wary of Julian (they know nothing of his own history), the tailoring and creation of his robes is a mark of acceptance - he is a strange, nearly threatening, presence to the Mobians who are permitted to know of him. Similar attire would at least normalize him somewhat. Likewise, to the hat: it is something to partially conceal his unfamiliar features, to cast shadow, and draw sight and attention away from his oddities.
Standing at about 6 foot 6 and weighing upwards of 300 pounds, (not to mention effectually being an alien) Julian has no need to draw unwarranted attention to himself, yet alone refuse to bow to the customs of the locale. The design of the clothing is somewhat whimsical, but I wished to include some slight elements, such as the pauldron-like straps over the shoulders, the loose, buttoned shoulder-ruffles (a presence of motion amid the form-fitting material elsewhere), the tough leather gloves, as well as their respective hint of metal rivets and strapping. Perhaps also of note are those collar-ties and their metal/jeweled pin (there has to be something metallic in his attire to balance those glaringly wierd synthetic tympana/ears of his). I have no knowledge of fashion or design aside from practicality, and balance.
As for the Mobians' own history, Julian's study is one I imagine of vast cross-referencing, division of time into it's respective historical trends, variation of species' perspective, the flow and growth (or repression) of ideas, the emergence of cooperation and treaties (or breakdown of peace and emergence of war). Finding his place among them would best be done through the most innocuous of actions and motiviations: simple curiosity and observation. Their historical records are important, and although he metaphorically has humanity's own history at his fingertips, he would best not be engaging in vast revelation - through reservedness he can acquire a cool distance, and incise and draw back whatever degrees of information he desires. Trade and balance are as much the tools of the good as the evil.
The history and treaties of the time are areas which require further work, but for now, in what I uncover through my own studies, there stands to be a vast area of richness I could yet add to this project. Perspective and implication are so very important.... I need only manage to suspend Julian's presence there in a fashion which does him credit. (That is one of the primary credos of this project - study until I'm at least minimally worthy of the dark genius. I find it amusingly eccentric.)

I admit, I am no fan of convenetional layout of comics (as unfamiliar as I am with them). Although I am also not acccustomed to comics or graphic novels in the least, I do intend to experiment with various conventions and concepts of layout until I find something which resonates well with me - after all, the project is simply a personal effort, and I cannot abide by what people will or will not react well to.
A large part of the project is intended to be narration, of a kind. I am drawn to elegant phrases and imagery, myself, so hopefully you will like what you find - although I've not included any such experimental pages of yet. The Charles Division, one such experimental image being in my main gallery ("Obelism"), is meant to deal with material relating to Charles and the Roboticizer. Hopefully I can string together enough basic material to set up and work with a basic series of layouts, etc. and end up with a short 'finished product' to take into account as a basis.
For now, thank you very much for your enthusiasm.

However, the compliment is much appreciated. Although it's my project, and a simple personal one, my end hope (with orientation to the viewership) is simply that it's inspiring in some way, and encourages others to intersting acts and thoughts.
Time will tell, yes indeed, but for now, I will have to be content with the slow development of details. Most often a homely pocket notebook is my primary resource: pages and pages of scrawl to decipher. But it's true that many feathers make a wing, so I'll have to continue on with all of the small details, while my studies help refine what I've yet to bring together as a workable concept.
Thanks again, FreedomFighter4! Best of luck with your own time. We all know how precious our sentimental efforts are.
