Thoughts: This sketch had garnered just enough effort and sentiment to not be regulated to the Scrap section.

Here is an image of Julian Robotnik, tyrant and technocrat of the world of Mobius, as per the universe of SatAM Sonic. Some might argue him to have been a very influential villain of that timeframe in television media, both for his qualities, and also for his accomplishments, as his initial appearence marks the turn of a decade of his rule over the planet Mobius. At the time, so far as I am aware, such a situation was rather unique for a show of it's calibre: the villain had essentially already won, and the show was set in a series of complex locales, largely somber and oppressive.

That aside, this is a stylized depiction of him, the second-last in a series of sketches meant for an ill friend. The swift writing in calligraphic ink does not originate as a description of his qualities proper, but is based instead on his traits found in dreams I've had. I thought that twist on the characters concerned would be a welcome difference, both to myself, and to the friend whom these are meant for.

This drawing was originally meant to have a series of geometric script-characters in the background, but to have executed them properly and placed them over the image would have required a complex grid and cocentric-circular layout which would have been nigh unmanageable with respect to the hardness of lines and tedious execution it'd have required... So, the sketch has been left as is.

In the essence which I meant to convey: Julian has the capacity to be just as deceptive and manipulatory as he is complex in his breadth of knowledge. It makes him a very dangerous man, and with the reach and capability granted to him by his empire of metal, he should be never be underestimated. For anyone caught in his gaze, I have pity on their living soul.

Details: A short sketch completed for a friend, one of a simple series. This is the second-last of this series.

Materials: mechanical pencil, sketchbook paper, a touch of watercolor, and a slight amount of calligraphy ink.

Cynicide: The fall of light and synthetic forms of Julian's command chair could use more width; most of the design was done from memory. In addition, his forward-leaning posture lends to some difficulty with how the material of his bodysuit would behave, and how the shadows would rest over his body.

NOTE: The concept of Julian Robotnik is copyright to Sega.

See, this man had it all figured out and flawlessly overthrew a government underneath their noses! How did he become a bumbling fool in the end that was replaced by a robotic clone that was less of a villain and more of a comic-relief?

What a waste. We got a taste of what Julian was capable of. He really should have stepped it up when he had the chance.
